(November 20 & 21) CHARLES COUNTY'S GOT TALENT Charles County serves up a one-two punch of art this weekend at the Indian Head Center's Black Box Theatre in Maryland tonight and tomorrow. The county hosts its inaugural talent show and pitches a tent for Saturday's Recycled Art Contest, as competitors deftly attempt to repurpose trash as treasure.

(November 20-22) LE NOZZE DI FIGARO Catholic University is having a go at Figaro, presenting Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro tonight through Sunday at the school's Ward Hall. Students provide the backdrop and music for this comedic opera set in a Spanish castle, telling the tale of one of the most famous marriages in musical history.

(November 21 & 22) GREATEST HIP HOP STORY If you like "crunk" better than classical, The Greatest Hip Hop Cover Story Ever Told might be more your speed. The two-day run kicks off tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at Dance Place in Northeast D.C. The show explores hip hop's past and impact on mainstream music and media. Because of its racy language, this show is for mature audiences only.

(November 22) BARK FOR BOOKS The written word comes to the rescue during Bark for Books, a page-turning fundraiser at the Washington Animal Rescue League Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 3. The literary family event includes readings, illustration workshops and books both signed by the authors and "pawed" by protagonists.

(November 19) ICE! There's plenty of bling at ICE! during Christmas on the Potomac at National Harbor in Prince George's County, Maryland, opening tonight and chilling visitors through January 10th. Two million pounds of the frozen stuff have been chiseled into towering topiaries and cozy igloos. Break out the winter wardrobe and expect flurries of visitors.

(November 20 & 21) BALLROOM WITH A TWIST Ballroom with a Twist lets you live it up in Maryland at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda tomorrow and Saturday nights. Familiar faces from television's top rated dance shows "So You Think You Can Dance", "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars" whip each other around the dance floor and serenade the night away.

(November 20) STEEL HAMMER Paying homage to Appalachia's myths and music, Trio Mediaeval is joined by the Bang on a Can All-Stars at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, Maryland, tomorrow night at 8. The show recreates the legend of John Henry)>) as part of the Steel Hammer Engagement Project, using the rich musical tapestry of Appalachia's mountain dulcimers, wood bones and banjoes.

(November 19) BILSON ON THE BROADWOOD This week offers a classical cornucopia. First, Bilson plays the Broadwood at the The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland tomorrow night at 7:30pm. Master musician Malcolm Bilson tickles the 200-year-old ivories of the Broadwood piano for a night of Haydn, Schumann and Chopin.

(November 19-21) DEMONS, DRAMA, DANCE Then, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra presents Demons, Drama and Dance tomorrow night at the Strathmore and Friday and Saturday in Baltimore at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program includes theRed Cape Tango from Daugherty's "Metropolis Symphony," Liszt's Dance of Death and the Symphonie fantastique by Berlioz.

(November 20 & 22) ECLIPSE ORCHESTRA And finally, Eclipse Orchestra brings the annual Brandenburg Festival to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Northwest D.C. Friday and Sunday nights at 7:30 p.m. The festival features more Bach than you can shake a stick at--unless, of course, you're the conductor.

(Nov 18) PINK JAMS! The Pink Jams concert combines the country-tinged tunes of Justin Trawick and the rock-infused ballads of Memphis 59 for a breast cancer fundraiser at the Clarendon Ballroom in Virginia tomorrow night at 7:30. Wear your dancing shoes to raise $10,000 for the 2010 Washington walk for breast cancer. You can change into your walking shoes for the 40-mile, two-day event in May.

(November 18-January 3) CAMELOT The halcyon days of Camelot return to Maryland, at the Olney Theatre Center, opening tomorrow and running through January 3rd. Based on the book The Once and Future King, Arthur and his knights ride the stage creating a kingdom full of passion, chivalry and betrayal.

(November 18-22) MGFest 2009 The D.C. Motion Graphics Festival showcases explosive artists and motion picture creators tomorrow through Sunday at venues around Washington. From Nine Inch Nails to David Byrne, Public Enemy's Chuck D and Passion Pictures, the festival features the latest in music and movie artistry.

(Nov 16) KRONOS QUARTET Jimi Hendrix? Nine Inch Nails? Stravinsky? Anything is possible when the Kronos Quartet teams up with students from Maryland University's School of Music at the [Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center] for a free "Public Reading" tonight at 7pm. The concert is the culmination of a year's worth of collaboration between the acclaimed quartet and UMD students.

(Nov 17-Dec 20) AS YOU LIKE IT The wonders of wrestling, young love and freedom are explored in The Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of [As You Like It] (http://www.shakespearetheatre.org/plays/details.aspx?id=181&source=l) at the Sidney Harman Hall in downtown D.C., opening tonight and running through December 20th. In these tales from the Forest of Arden, Shakespeare's heroine pursues true love while in disguise, proving that "all the world's a stage."

(November 17) BUSINESS AND PLEASURE The arts have played an integral role in the City of Alexandria's economy for years. The Torpedo Factory Art Center hosts Behind the Scenes, a discussion on business and the arts tomorrow night at 6:30 in Old Town. Panelists will explore how the arts attract commerce to local communities.

(November 14) GOING NATIVE Dancers chant and sway at the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall for two shows tomorrow, at 2 and 7:30pm. The Kevin Locke Native Dance Ensemble features the traditional dance and music of the Plains and Woodlands Nations. The program includes "Drum is the Thunder, Flute is the Wind," a Native American ballet, and the "Hoop Dance," expressing the unity of humankind.

(November 14 & 15) FINE CRAFTS SHOW The studio artists at the Lee Arts Center in Virginia host a fine arts craft show tomorrow and Sunday from 10 to 4 in Arlington. They fire up the kiln to about 1800 degrees for a Raku Party Fundraiser using smoke and fire to create Raku-style patterns and designs. You can make your own unique ceramic masterpiece.

(November 14) ALL-GERSHWIN The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra takes on a full evening of Gershwin under the direction of Marin Alsop Saturday night at The Music Center at Strathmore and Sunday at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins the BSO for the upbeat evening of classic Americana.

(November 15) IF I CAN'T DANCE Parkinson's disease plays a part in a new production by Bowen McCauley Dance on the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage Sunday at 6 p.m. "If I Can't Dance" rounds out a trio of premiere performances by professionals and youth. It features dancers living with Parkinson's disease who are part of the group's Dance for PD program.

(November 12-15) YOU BETTER SHOP AROUND After traipsing past untouchable artifacts in galleries and museums, you've now got an opportunity to take something home. The 20th annual Museum Shop Around kicks off today at The Mansion at Strathmore in Rockville, Maryland and runs through Sunday. From Degas' ballerinas to stuffed replicas of Bo the First Dog and Lincoln's presidential china, local museums offer some artistic and inspired shopping.

(November 13) AM I TOO LOUD? The University of Maryland School of Music presents Am I Too Loud?, a concert at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, Maryland, Friday night at 8 p.m. The show tips its hat to piano-playing accompanists everywhere, paying homage to collaboration with Britten's Cabaret Songs and Schubert's fishy "Trout" Quintet.

(November 12 & 13) STEP AFRIKA! The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, Maryland hosts Step Afrika! - that's with an exclamation point - tomorrow and Friday night at 8. The group tours, teaches, and of course steps in a boot-stomping, percussive style that has deep roots in D.C. and Africa.

(November 13) OSBORNE, HOLMES BROTHERS AND THORN Rock, gospel and country come together at The Music Center at Strathmore Friday night at 8. A trio of acts including Joan Osborne, The Holmes Brothers and Paul Thorn offer music that's bluesy, soaring and soulful.

(November 14) KALEIDOSCOPE OF CHOREOGRAPHY Choreographer Peter DiMuro and the 7 Sopranos stage Kaleidoscope of Choreography and Divas at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop this Saturday night at 7. This free show features is art-in-the-making, giving dancers and singers a chance for some feedback before a final staging next year.
