Doris Kearns Goodwin's new book is titled "Leadership in Turbulent Times."

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin has made a career of writing about the lives of some of the country’s most revered presidents.

In her latest book, “Leadership in Turbulent Times,” she returns to four of the historical figures she knows best: Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson. This time, however, Kearns Goodwin examines their lives not as a biographer, but with a particular question in mind: how does a person become a leader?

Their stories, she says, hold valuable lessons for today.
