Sally Field starring as Gidget in 1965. As she writes in her new memoir, Gidget's bright cheery world was very different from Field's real life as a struggling teenager.

The world has known her as Gidget, Norma Rae and Mary Todd Lincoln – but now actress Sally Field is revealing her own story. In her new memoir, “In Pieces,” she seeks to put together the painful moments of her life that she had been afraid to confront. Behind the celebrity status and Academy Awards, Field was haunted by the sexual abuse she faced as a child, and a question that had vexed her for years – why didn’t her mother protect her?

Then, sexual misconduct has taken center stage at the hearings of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. As his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, sets terms for testifying in the Senate, the echoes of Anita Hill are impossible to overlook. We listen back to Diane’s 1997 conversation with Anita Hill in which she reflects on her experience.

You can find an excerpt of Diane’s interview with Anita Hill on this week’s podcast, or you can listen the interview in its entirety right here.
