If there’s a natural disaster in the world these days, chances are José Andrés and his team from World Central Kitchen are there, too. So, as Hurricane Dorian slammed into the Bahamas this weekend, that’s where Chef Andrés headed – to provide meals to those in need.

Two years ago, he took the U.S. government to task for its performance in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. He wrote about the experience in a book “We Fed an Island: The True Story of Rebuilding Puerto Rico, One Meal at a Time.”

Diane spoke with him about disaster relief and his newest cookbook, “Vegetables Unleashed,” in front of a live audience this past Saturday. It was part of the Library of Congress National Book Festival.
