Bishop Mariann Budde at a vigil in Washington, D.C. on June 3rd.

Last week, The Right Rev. Mariann Budde watched in outrage as peaceful protestors outside the White House were cleared to make room for President Trump’s walk to St. John’s Church, where he then posed for photos with the Bible.

That night, Bishop Budde appeared in national media outlets and she had a message for the president. “We need moral leadership,” she told the Washington Post. “And he’s done everything to divide us.”

Diane is part of the National Cathedral congregation here in Washington, D.C., and Bishop Budde is her religious leader. Bishop Budde married Diane and her husband. After seeing her take a strong stand against the President and hearing her sermons on the topic, Diane invited Bishop Budde on the podcast.

They spoke Monday afternoon.
